The block headquarter is Nandgaon, tehsil Chhata. As per census 2001 village population is 2824 with total 438 households.

This is the village of Lalita Sakhi, who is one of the eight prominent sakhis ( inmates) of Radha Rani. Lalita Devi is 27 days older than Radha. She is the leader and best of the eight main gopis. It is Lalita's duty to pacify Radha when she is feeling separation from Krishna. She has a contradictory and hot-tempered nature. Her complexion is bright yellow. Her garments are the color of peacock feathers. She is expert at arranging both the meeting of Radha and Krishna and their conjugal fights. Her mother is Sharadi and her father is Mahabhanu.
The village is also the bhajan-sthali of Narayan Bhatt ji, the composer of Braj Bhakti Vilas.
