The hill on which the temple is located is called Nandishwar and is considered to be Lord Shiva himself. This is the main temple of Nandgaon. The black deities of Krishna and Balaram are said to be
installed by Vajranabh, 5 thousand years ago. Many nice paintings showing childhood of Krishna, are there on the ceiling of the inner dome of this temple.
