General Description:

Nandgaon is a vibrant township managed by a Gram Panchayat. It is one of the ten blocks in Mathura district. It is surroned on and around the hill. The main Nand Rai temple can be seen from a distance. The circumambulation path of this place is 6 km. 1/3 of the village population depends upon income from tourists.

Cultural Significance:

It is the place where Krishna lived from the age of 7 to 10. Nand Maharaj built his house on the top of the hill here to protect Krishna from the demons sent by king Kansa. This hill is the personified form of Lord Shiva and is known as Nandishwar hill. Shiva wanted to witness the sweet childhood plays of Krishna. So he assumed the form of hill.
