Once the maidens desired to go to Prayag, to take holy dip at the confluence of Ganga,Yamuna and Saraswati. Due to a fear of loosing their association for long time, Krishna created this pond by the tip of his flute and three holy rivers appeared in this Kup, being ordered by Krishna. It is said that one can attain the fruit of bathing at Prayag Triveni just by putting dust of this Kup at his forehead.
