Kokil is name of a cuckoo. Sometimes Krishna would dress up like a cuckoo bird and imitate it's sound to call the Gopis. Upon hearing this sound they would sneak out of their houses in the middle of the night and come to see Krishna. It is said that Krishna used to disguise himself to meet with Radhika here.
