Cultural Significance:

The scriputural name for this village is Gaan-Van. Gopis had ecstatically sung songs of Radha and Krishna lila. Such songs were based on union of divine couple, while the songs sung at Kokilavan were based on separation. Krishna and Balaram had played the sports of ball here. It is also known in scriptures as Garudipur due to Krishna’s Garudi leela. Here is the pushpa chayan bhoomi of Radha and her sakhis,near Phulwari Kund. Once Radha got fainted, while she was collecting flowers.Krishna came quickly, sitting on the Garud to salvage her. This village is also known to be the tapasthali of Garg Muni the Acharya of Yadavs.
